Our last blog post

Image
Well hello guys! Sadly, this is our very last blog post that we are making for this Creativity & Innovation course. It's been a fun ride focusing more intensely in being creative and innovative. Here are our final thoughts about: What did we learn about creativity? What did we learn about each others creativity - characteristics, skills, attitudes that support/prevent creativity. Jasmin – I learned that the act of creating is the act of bringing new and imaginative thoughts into reality. A creative person is capable of seeing the world in new ways, of finding hidden patterns, of connecting seemingly unrelated phenomena, and of generating new solutions. There are two processes involved in creativity: thinking and producing.  There is no innovation without creativity. I feel like I have learning to do in being motivated throughout the whole process, even though it is natural to not be all the time. Also, I’d like to be less selfish and let new ideas come in more openly, wh...

Teaching Method

Image
Hello! We chose for our teaching method to use Kahoot! It is a game-based learning platform used in schools and other educational institutions. Kahoot's learning games are multiple-choice quizzes created by users and accessible through a web browser or mobile app. It can be used to review students' knowledge, for formative assessment, or as a break from traditional classroom activities. Trivia quizzes are also included. Kahoot! has a positive effect on learning performance, classroom dynamics, attitudes, and anxiety. Main challenges include technical problems, see questions and answers, time stress, afraid of losing, and hard to catch up. The fantasy in Kahoot! is that the classroom is temporarily transformed into a game show, where the teacher is the game show host, and the students are contenders. This fantasy is enhanced through audio and graphics, points, scoreboards, and podium, that should contribute to a fun and positive learning experience. Several studies suggest tha...

Our project concluded

Image
The Project is coming to an end... As we made up our mind of who we are going to interview, it was time to decide what sort of questions we were going to ask. We see that the interview part is one of the most important ones as in the short period of time discussing, you should get a good picture of the company, it’s challenges and over all picture.  As from the basis of the interview you brainstorm innovative & creative ideas. Brainstorming and using different tools and workshops we gathered some ideas and picked the one that everyone was happy to work with. As we worked through with our idea, we started to see more opportunities in it, such as expanding it to other projects, not just daycares. We sticked with our idea until the end, but we did not end up presenting it to the company.   Overall, we did good, and we were learning throughout this project more and more about innovation and creativity. Maybe it would be next time easier to choose methods to use as we ar...

Idea Generation Method

Image
Hello again!    This week we are going to introduce you an idea generation method. We chose the 5 W’s. The method is sometimes referred as  Five Ws and How ,  5W1H , or  Six Ws.  The picture above already tells quite well of what this is all about. But to be precise,  according to the principle of the Five Ws, a report can only be considered complete if it answers these questions starting with an  interrogative word  (= a function word used to ask questions) Answering these five W’s helps us achieve a very holistic view of the topic under discussion. And it is an efficient way to come up with solutions and ideas. For example, suppose you want to create a new product or a service. You can do so by asking questions like, who would use the product, why would people buy it, what would it do, etc.   Each question should have a factual answer—facts necessary to include for a report to be considered complete.  Imp...
