Idea Generation Method
Hello again!
This week we are going to introduce you an idea generation method. We chose the 5 W’s. The method is sometimes referred as Five Ws and How, 5W1H, or Six Ws.
The picture above already tells quite well of what this is all about. But to be precise, according to the principle of the Five Ws, a report can only be considered complete if it answers these questions starting with an interrogative word (= a function word used to ask questions)
Answering these five W’s helps us achieve a very holistic view of the topic under discussion. And it is an efficient way to come up with solutions and ideas.
For example, suppose you want to create a new product or a service. You can do so by asking questions like, who would use the product, why would people buy it, what would it do, etc.
Each question should have a factual answer—facts necessary to include for a report to be considered complete. Importantly, none of these questions can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no".
See you next week! 💭
